The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was formed as the Australian Fleet Unit and given its official title by Royal Charter on 10 July 1911. ‘To fight and win at sea.’ The RAN’s vision shines through this motto.

Scribed across the front of the Australian Navy shirt, these words act as a reminder of the RAN’s important role in Australia’s Defence Force. To promote and protect Australia’s interests at sea using ships, submarines and aircraft manned by skilled personnel. The Australian Navy Shirt is a memorial polo that champions Navy Personnel from World War II and those who continue to serve in the Royal Australian Navy.

This shirt features hand-drawn retellings of iconic moments throughout the Navy’s WWII involvement.

Across the front of the shirt, an original hand-drawn HMAS Perth III, launched in March 2004. As a long-range frigate, this impressive ship countered simultaneous threats from aircraft, surface vessels and submarines. Today, the ship also embarks the Navy’s latest multirole MH-60R Seahawk helicopter.

As the most capable naval helicopter available today, the MH-60R Seahawk has enhanced anti-submarine, anti-surface warfare and crucial search and rescue capabilities.

In the distance, the HMAS Collins joins from the distance. A formidable element in Australia’s defence capability and one of the first submarines to be totally designed by computers. It’s joined by the HMAS Sydney II which first launched in September 1934. As an outstanding warship, historically, this aesthetically elegant ship featured in many headlines with her exploits in the Mediterranean. Alongside her, the A2 Supermarine Seagull V (Walrus) which was designed specifically for use on RAN cruisers. This ship was first flown in June 1933.

Featured on the back of the shirt, a Marine searches over the sea through binoculars. A representation of the RAN’s constant search to promote and protect Australia.

An excellent product already worn,my only query is that the pocket is usually on the left in this shirt it is on the right, any particular reason I prefer left.???

Thank you for the feedback, Norm. We decided to put the pocket on the right so as not to interrupt and logos/badges on the left. We may revisit this for future collections though. :)
